Fuck yeah cheese |
CHEEEESSSEEE AMISH CHEEESSSEEE |
We have neglected to post anything cheese related for months. So here are some cheeses as an apology!
Irresistible. Yumm.
Bleu cheese, ladies and gentlemen. And ooohh how I love it.
This cheese is not for the amateur cheese lover. It has a creamy texture with a strong flavor. The older it gets, the stronger the flavor. It is definitely an acquired taste. It has a tart flavor that is a bit buttery at the same time, with just a hint of herbs. It’s from France and is made from cows milk.
I love bleu cheese on wheat thins with grapes. It’s also great on rye crostini (little pieces of toast) with apple slices. Experiment with different types of fruits and veggies with crackers or bread to find your favorite combination. It’s also great on salads, especially if they have nuts on them.
I would love to go to Whole Foods or Kroger with anyone who is interested and talk more about cheese.

A song. About cheese.
Flags made out of some native foods of each country, including cheese. Win.

Yes, you read that correctly. Cheese is my family’s passion. Why? We are Amish….and we make cheese. All kinds of cheese. Cheese is the first food I remember eating and loving. We have a cheese plate at every family dinner, dedicate 2 shelves of the fridge to cheese, and on holidays, venture out as a group to the local cheese factory. Some say there is a fine line between passion and obsession…but I actually don’t have a problem with either.
In honor of my family, I’m providing a link to our favorite cheese factory, Heini’s. It holds a special place in my heart. And for those of you who aren’t content with a pound of cheese from the local supermarket, Heini’s sells cheese online!! You can have an 8 lb brick of cheese shipped anywhere in the US. How great is that?!

Cream cheese, guys. That really is all I need to say, but I’ll go on.
Eat it with Tollhouse crackers. Wheat thins. On wheat toast with brown sugar sprinkled on top. Buy it with different flavors in it (sweet flavors like blueberry for breakfast or savory like garlic & chives for snack) to put it on your bagels.
I’ve also heard of cream cheese and jelly on bread but I’ve never tried it myself.
Here’s a fun recipe for you to enjoy:
Cheese art. It is beautiful. Cheese is so versatile.
We love cheese. A lot. So much that we are now starting a blog about it. Check back now and again for our favorite types of cheese, not-so-favorite types of cheese, cheese stories, cheese recipes, and with every entry, a picture of cheese.
Nos encanta queso.
